New outdoor early childhood workshops in Goshen, May 14
Take part in two new early childhood programs on May 14 at Rieth Center in Goshen from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
The programs, Project Learning Tree's Environmental Experiences for Early Childhood and Growing Up WILD from Project WILD, integrate nature-based exploration, art, literature, math, music and movement, and outdoor play into early childhood education programs for kids ages 3 to 7.
Together, these guides contain 38 activities that encourage children to explore the senses, seasons, neighborhood trees, and wildlife in the world around them. Both guides contain activities that incorporate healthy snacks into the learning experience.
Participants will receive the Growing Up WILD guide and Project Learning Tree's Environmental Experiences for Early Childhood Guide and accompanying music CD.
Upon completion of the workshops, participants will be more confident in their knowledge of trees and wildlife, and have new skills to teach young children in outdoor settings.
Both guides have been correlated to national standards for preschool education by three major early childhood accreditation programs: National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) Early Childhood Environmental Education Guidelines for Excellence, and the Head Start Child Outcomes Framework.
To register, contact Nancy Brown at (574) 533-3630 or nancy.brown@IN.nacdnet.net. There is a fee of $35 for the program.
