For immediate release: July 11, 2011 6-year-old boy drowns in river Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the drowning death of a 6-year-old Connersville boy.
The incident occurred at 7:54 p.m. on July 10. According to witnesses, the victim, Michael Gentry, was swimming in Whitewater River near Parsley Street and Water Street in Connersville with his 10-year-old sister.
The mother, Ashley Gentry, was close by and observed both siblings enter into deeper water, when the 6-year-old went beneath the surface. The victim was located at 8:22 p.m. by Jesse Sorrel of Fayette County EMS in approximately 10 feet of water.
