Lake Monroe is a 10,750 acre flood control reservoir located in Brown and Monroe counties southeast of Bloomington. It is the largest lake in the state with recreational activities such as boating and fishing. Fishing consists primarily of largemouth bass and panfish, such as bluegill and yellow perch. Other angling opportunities include white crappie, hybrid striped bass and yellow perch, as well as channel and flathead catfish. Lake Monroe has also become one of the best walleye fisheries in Indiana. Comments about body of water:
Spring is finally here. The Lake is 4.7 feet up and dropping about 4in. per day. Water temp. is 50 degrees. Middle Fork resting area opened April 1st, but keep in mind North Fork Resting Area does not open until midnight April 15th.
