For immediate release: May 24, 2011 Posted by: [DNR] Contact: Coletta Prewitt Phone: (812) 849-3534 Email: dnrnews@dnr.IN.gov Civil War Days at Spring Mill State Park, May 28-30 Step back in time at Spring Mill State Park's inaugural Civil War Days, May 28-30, as the park recognizes the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
This event will be packed with battle reenactments, speakers, demonstrations, and encampments starting at 2:30 p.m. on both Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29, in the Pioneer Village.
Guests can take part in a Civil War-era ball on Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Sycamore Shelter. Women will be dressed in their finest frocks of the day, dancing to music from the mid-1800s.
On Monday, May 30, at 2 p.m., reenactors of President Abraham Lincoln and Governor Oliver P. Morton, along with soldiers and pioneers, will be in Hamer Cemetery for a memorial service to honor the soldiers lost during the Civil War.
The park entrance fee of $5 per vehicle for Indiana residents and $7 per vehicle for out-of-state visitors will be in effect.
