Indiana Fishing Reports The Weekend Report 05/29/2010
Indiana farm ponds: Fishing has been very good. Bass, crappie and bluegill have been on the bite. Bluegill are on the beds.
Monroe Reservoir fishing report: Some big slab crappie being caught in 4 to 6 feet deep water. The bigger crappie have moved shallow to spawn. Some good carp fishing at Moores Creek
Shakamak State Park Lakes fishing report: Lots of nice bluegill being taken. Bee moth, crickets, and redworms. A few nice channel cats being taken on nightcrawlers fished on bottom at night. Bass fishing is fair. Patoka lake fishing report: Bluegill fishing has been good. Channel catfishing has been good, and some very big flatheads have been caught with the biggest going 45 pounds. Minnows and crickets are taking the fish in 4-5 feet deep water.
Brookville reservoir fishing report: Lots of boats on the water and the fish are biting. Walleye, bass, catfish and crappie all being caught on 16th oz jig and crawlers in 6-9 feet of water.. Lots of other boats catching fish.
Dogwood lake fishing report: The bites hot at Dogwood with lots of bluegill and redear being taken. Most of the fish being caught are against the banks in about 2-4 ft of water. Lots of moss now but we hit the open pockets between the moss and also creek channel areas that tighten up to the back.
Sugar Creek fishing report: Water is high, but that hasn't slowed the action any. Some very nice smallmouth being caught on green and red tubes. We also had one report of a flathead catfish of about 10 pounds being caught.
Cataract or Cagles Mill reservoir fishing report: I went Cataract lake today, water temp was 63 to 65 just about everywhere. I was at Cunot ramp and it was muddy and dirty so I went all the way to the north end of the lake. I caught crappie from 3ft of water all the way 25ft. NO SIZE to them at all!!
Atterbury and Driftwood State Fishing area fishing report: Lots of bluegill being caught. They are on the beds. Some nice channel cats being taken on nightcrawlers and cut bait fished on bottom. Lots and lots of dink bass being caught.
Greene-Sullivan state forest lakes and Owen county strip pits: Bluegill fishing just doesn't get much better. Lots and lots of big bluegill being caught. Lots of dink bass and a few crappie being taken.
Waveland lake fishing report: Bass are fanning out nest. Crappie were hitting 3" curly-tail grub on a 1/16" jig head, basically all over the lake. Shallow water and deep water, it didn't matter. Some of the crappies also had bloody tails, so it appears the spawn is going strong at Waveland. Water temperatures are 74 early morning and went to 80 degrees by early afternoon
Ohio river fishing report: Fishing opportunities should increase this upcoming week as water levels drop and water clarity improves. Try white or chartreuse twister tails and flukes or stick baits both at the dams and on downstream for hybrid striped bass and white bass. These locations are also good for catfish, especially where the water slows down. Both cut bait and plastics have yielded catfish over 20-pounds. Sauger and walleye fishing have slowed down, but expect to hook into some drum no matter what you are fishing for.
Mississinewa reservoir fishing report: Most of the crappie have not spawned on Missy yet. Expect the spawn 3 days before to 3 days after the next full moon. Some have spawned already, the largest fish seam to do there thing first. The rising water wont affect them, they will just move up with it. Now lets just hope the corps wont hold the water level in a raised state and dump the water after they start spawning.
Lake Michigan Fishing report: I had charters both Sat and Sun. The trip on sat was a little weird. The fog was so bad I could not get to were the fish were at. The fog did not burn off until 12:30 and we tried for some perch but no takers…..Sun trip was comp diff. the sun was out and little waves, so we ran near the gong….it is a 21 mile trip from MC…the fishing was Ok over there. Ended up landing 2 kings, coho, lake trout and a summer run steelhead….lost some other good fish on lead core and mag sthingys….with the warm temps coming up this week the perch fishing should pick up…
Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Weekend ! Be careful out there on the roads and watch out for all the speed traps. Police are going to be out thicker than bugs on a bumper. Make sure to wear those life jackets !!
Good Fishing Everyone ! Just get out and go !!
