For immediate release: Aug 05, 2010 Posted by: [DNR] Contact: Fred Wooley Phone: (260) 833-2012 Email: dnrnews@dnr.in.gov Pokagon SP hosts sand sculpture event, Aug. 14-15 Pokagon State Park will host a sand sculpturing demonstration on the park's main beach, Aug. 14-15. The Michigan Sand Sculpturers, a group of families who vacation at Pokagon State Park every summer, will create sculptures starting Aug. 13, weather permitting. They will create two or three items, within a roped-off area, depending on this year's theme and weather. The group's demonstrations will be held on Aug. 14 and 15. Others are invited to create their own sand art elsewhere on the beach. A contest for all participants will be held Aug. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. The park beach is open sunrise to sunset. The bathhouse and beach concession stand is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entry to the beach is free. The normal park entrance fee on weekends of $5 for in-state vehicles or $7 for out-of-state vehicles will be charged or you can use your annual entrance pass. Both are available at the park front gate.
