Indiana Fishing Reports Saturday, August 07, 2010
Farm Ponds: Some farm ponds and pits are giving up some nice bluegill and channel cat fish early mornings. I'm talking be on the water at 5 am. Fish the deeper ponds. Shallow ponds of 15 feet deep water or less are not giving up many fish. Anglers are catching nice bluegill while fishing on bottom in 20 feet plus deep water. Pinch a night crawler in 1/2 and fish it on bottom just like your cat fishing. You'll start catching bluegill, and even a few channel cats. No bites in 15 minutes move on to a different spot. As the sun comes up about 10 am fish will completely shut off.
Brookville reservoir fishing report: A few largemouth being caught on jigs in 15 to 20 feet deep water. All fishing reported to be poor.
Wabash river fishing report: Some good blue catfish being caught along with a few flatheads. Fished the outsides of bends concentrating on drop-offs near structure.
Ohio river fishing report: Channel catfish and flathead are being caught below the dam tail waters using shad and skipjack fished tight on the bottom. Fishing during the night is the best time to fish for channel catfish and flathead catfish. Night angling has been the most popular time period for catfish anglers due to the high daytime temperatures. For Blue catfish fish in deep, slow pools using cut bait or chicken livers. Hybrid striped bass have been caught in the early mornings using any minnow-type diving lures or live baits fished along the bottom.
White river fishing report: Indianapolis to Spencer: Some nice smallmouth being taken by fly fishermen, and anglers using ultra-lite fishing equipment. Cat fishing has slowed with only a few small channel and flathead catfish being taken. Carp fishing remains good using sweet corn.
Cataract lake fishing report: Crappie fishing is slow. A few being caught in 10 to 18 feet deep water jigging minnows. Carp and cat fishing is fair at night.
Monroe reservoir fishing report: Crappie are in 12 to 18 feet deep water in the main lake. They are hitting on Nothead jigs tipped with minnows. No other reports available.
Patoka lake fishing report: Bluegill are being taken in 5 to 15 feet deep water on beetle spins and red worms fished around structure. Channel cats are being taken by fishing the flats at night time using night crawlers, cut bait, and shad guts. Crappie are being taken at night in 12 to 25 deep feet of water vertically jigging knothead jigs tipped with minnows.
Raccoon reservoir fishing report: All pan fishing is slow. A good night bite for catfish on chicken livers and night crawlers at night.
Sugar Creek fishing report: Anglers who are wading along Sugar Creek are catching smallmouth bass. Fly fishermen and anglers using ultra-light equipment are catching them on a varitey of different baits.
Indiana Pay lakes fishing reports: All pay lakes we've talked to say that with the higher water temperatures that the bite has slowed down. Cat fish are hitting very good just before sunrise.
