Trail of Scarecrows at Prophetstown SP Fall Festival, Oct. 29-30
You can help bring Prophetstown State Park's Annual Fall Festival, Oct. 29-30, to life by contributing a scarecrow.
This year, in addition to the annual happenings like campsite decorating, the chili supper, Dutch oven cooking, trick or treating, and more, the state park will host its inaugural Trail of Scarecrows as a fundraiser for its interpretive and educational programs.
The trail will be displayed along the main road outside of the park from Oct.1-31. Scarecrow entries are welcome from individuals, families, clubs, organizations and other groups. The entry donation is $20.
Members of the public can vote for their favorite scarecrow in the park office. The cost of each vote is one penny. People can vote as many times as they want. Prizes will be given to the first-, second- and third-place scarecrows.
Entries must be received by Sept. 24. Scarecrows must be completed by Oct. 1. Setup can begin Sept. 28 and must be finished on Sept. 30, by dusk.
The normal park entrance fee of $5 for in-state vehicles or $7 for out-of-state vehicles will be charged.
For an official entry form, complete list of rules & regulations, tips, examples and sample pictures regarding the scarecrow setup, please contact Gayle at gpitstick@dnr.in.gov or Skyler at shill@dnr.in.gov or by calling 765-567-4919.
