Indiana Info Fishing Report, Saturday, August 21, 2010
Farm Ponds and pits: Farm ponds and strip pits have a good bluegill bite very early mornings with an improving bite Lots of dinks being caught around the banks. Bigger fish are deep and anglers are catching them tight-lining on bottom with night crawlers. Lots of dink bass being caught. Night-time anglers are catching a few nice bass and catfish. There have been a few fish kills in the Greene-Sullivan state forest lakes. These are due to hot weather and low oxygen levels. Most of the fish kills are all shad.

Night-time anglers are taking some very nice flatheads on live bluegill, and creek chubs. A few channel cats on cut bait and night crawlers, and some carp on sweet corn. EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Outdoor enthusiasts in southwestern Indiana are being urged to use caution if they go boating on the Ohio River because of low water levels on the river.
Local observers say the river along Evansville and Newburgh and other communities in the state's southwestern tip is on the low side following the recent heat wave.
The boating caution went out before hundreds of boaters took part in Sunday's annual Ski Day on the Ohio. The river was forecast to be about 13 feet deep at Newburgh and 14 feet at Evansville.
Observers say that when the river is that shallow it can expose water hazards and create problems backing larger boats into the river at the Newburgh, Angel Mounds and Dogtown boat ramps.
